Do You Take the Advice Given?

John Maxwell spoke today about the word “Advice”.   You can watch the video here:

We all know people who ask for advice or counsel but they only want to hear what they want in another voice.

That doesn’t do anybody any good.

John mentioned that if you ask for advice from someone you trust and respect then take the advice given.

When you are building a team encourage everyone to ask for advice.  Listen to your team’s ideas.

As John said, “Teamwork makes the dream work.”

When we share our ideas and our advice, we develop a great resource that makes our team stronger

The following quotes make it very clear that a team can accomplish far more than we can on our own and they offer excellent “Advice”.

“I hire people brighter than me and I get out of their way.”  Lee Iacocca

“The essence of competitiveness is liberated when we make people believe that what they think and do is important – and then get out of their way while they do it.” Jack Welch

“Whenever ideas are shared, the result is always greater than the sum of the parts” Rich Willis

“Good leadership consists of showing average people how to do the work of superior people.” John D. Rockefeller

“Appreciate everything your associates do for the business. If people believe in themselves, it’s amazing what they can accomplish.” Sam Walton

“A group becomes a team when each member is sure enough of himself and his contribution to praise the skills of the others”. Norman Shidle

“None of us is as smart as all of us”. Japanese proverb

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results”. Andrew Carnegie
