Do Your Friends and Family Run When They See You Coming? Do They Refuse to Answer the Phone When They See Your Caller ID?

How many times have you been told to make a list of 100 people …friends and family … call them and explode your opportunity all over them or corner them in a home meeting or a hotel meeting so they can’t escape and then present your memorized and well rehearsed presentation?


It’s unprofessional, it’s annoying and it’s pushy.

If this is what you have been taught to market yourself and your business – then STOP!!!

Unless your entire circle of friends and family are Entrepreneurs, no one is going to be interested in your phone call, your home meeting or your hotel meeting to talk to them about something that “will change their lives.”  They see right through you.

Folks, this is the 21st Century…1980s  marketing techniques will not work.

All you will succeed in doing is drive people away from you – far away.

As Dr. Gianmichael Salvato said in his July 19, 2012 article “Who Else Hates Typical Network Marketers?”:  “Professionasl understand STABLE business, that will produce six and seven figure returns, is ONLY possible when  your focus and intentionality are building RELATIONSHIPS .

Self-interest, making a quick buck, or hounding your people to “get out there and sell” are the strategies of the kinds of people who populate the world’s  Ponzi schemes and scams.  You know, the kinds of companies that like to make outrageous claims… slam the folks in by moving them from one failing company to the next “great deal”.

When you have the right business, the right product, and the right compensation model, you can leave network marketing and 1980s MLM/Direct Sales behind you, and emerge as a leader.”

Whether it is called Relationship Marketing or Attraction Marketing, it is the only way to market yourself and your business.

We all know that people do not join your opportunity – they join YOU!

Massive email campaigns, constantly spamming on Facebook and Twitter, calling your IBO Associates to force feed them your business, posting your link all over the Interenet will simply alienate the people you might want in your downline.

Instead,  take the trouble to get to know people and make them think you care about them   – make  friends and  build solid, lasting  relationships.

People want to feel that you care about what they think and what they have to say.  They want to feel important.


Everyone has heard the much used quote, “Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.” by Teddy Roosevelt but it is very true.

Share yourself, post positive and inspiring articles, encourage your fellow Entrepreneurs, and contribute something of value.

If people trust you and feel you are transparent, they will want to know what you are doing. – what is good about it and  how it is working for you .  They will be open to listening to you when they feel they are listening to a friend not an opportunist who just wants another number in their downline.

Start building that empire by building relationships first!
